ON MELTING AND BONDING!!!

Wednesday, 27 January 2016

Ever noticed something about tough materials? Sometimes they've got to melt in other to bond with other materials.

I was walking down my estate with a neighbour of mine when we got into quite an interesting conversation. She told a story about a mutual friend of ours, who's presently married, but had consequtively experienced a few bad relationships in the past, as a result of her constant hesitation in giving her best to a relationship. She stated that for everyone she met, she'ld hold back a lot, fight all feelings and emotions, even when deep down, she had a strong urge to express her self. She believed in the mentallity that showing someone how much you care about them or love them, gives them the opportunity to take advantage of you.

One day, she met a man who really swept her off her feet, who genuienly cared about everything that concerned her and more. A man who showed love in the way he looked at her, held her hands, spoke to her and about her. But again, she held back alot, faught all feelings and hid all emotions, for fear that if he ever found out how much she loved him in return, he might take advantage of her love. As a result, she expressed no feelings, payed no compliments, acted like nothing was bothering her even when she was mad or upset about something as it made her seem tough and strong on the outside. Over time, pride crept into the relationship and resulted in a very bad break up.

When asked why she always had a problem with relationships, even when all she'd been trying to do was guard her heart jealously as the bible would say, her aunt explained that relationships are like chemical bonds between two materials. When a though material is melted and joined to another material, the bond formed, is not as strong as both materials melted on each end and joined together.

Love can never be built on a 'one way' street. Sometimes we love to be though in relationships, we hold back a lot; feelings, emotions, affections...you name it!. It's great to "protect" yourself from others definitely, however, when you find someone that truely loves you, its okay to show them love in return, pay compliments when you feel like it, be the first to call, speak when you are upset or sad about an issue, its okay to look within yourself and realise you have no control of the situation and in need of someone's help. It is righteous to say sorry when you know you have hurt the other person or have been wrongful towards them. That way, you have a stronger bond, an effortless relationship, a drama free and pride deficient relationship.

#You've got to melt in other to bond.

Please bare With me on my analogies.. It helps me get through life :D

Enjoy the rest if your week.

Monday, 18 January 2016

Someone once said to me that ; 'the only thing I notice about you, is your smile'. As a matter of fact, that statement has been a constant chant to my ears and as much as I'm unsure if that should be taken as a compliment, I'd like to simply take it as one lol.

Smiling is one thing I find hard to control..it comes almost always and all the time..plus, it gets very contagious, you might never be able to contain it.

I believe the simple act of smiling does far more than making you look friendly and approachable. It can change your life and the lives of those around you. MY OVER AMBITIOUS EXPERIENCE!!!!

Sunday, 17 January 2016

Hey guys,

Apologies for my long hiatus. I started the year with a bit of grief as I lost a friend so dear to me. But as the days go by, I realise I've got to accept what I cannot change and live while I still have a chance to live. I hope you all started off great and I hope the year's coming up even better than you imagined?

There is a common belief that the best investment options require a lot of money to get started, but the reality is that, there are small investments that allow you to start with as little as you have. Small scale poultry farming is one of them.

Earlier this year, I decided it was about time I invested. I had successfully grown my savings last year, but was faced with a pressing need which pretty much came in between my investment plans. I'd thought about the smallest business I could start, just as a side business, and then, small scale poultry farming came to mind. But due to the changes that had occurred with my savings, I became short of funds.

I prayed for some sort of financial favour and luckily for me, I got a call from an old friend of my mum inviting me to his house warming party. I honored his invitation, and at some point during the gathering, we stepped out and spoke at length, after which, he handed me some dollars. I was so happy and thankful. I didnt know exactly how much it was but it felt quite substantial when he placed it in my palms. I quickly clutched it firmly and fixed it in my pocket as I didn't have my wallet with me. It was as if God had sent him directly to me.

We returned back to the gathering and I began thinking about how I'd set up a backyard poultry farm at my house, build a cage for a few chickens, get them to lay some eggs, more chickens would hatch from those eggs, then I'd sell them to get even more chickens, build a bigger cage, rare them, sell them, then gradually move from the small scale farming to medium scale, and then to the large scale farming, after which, I'd probably sell all the chickens in other to buy some cows, which I would in turn, sell to buy some lands, which I would sell to buy some houses which I would also sell.....Mean while, I reached out to fetch the money just to know how much it was, and behold, it was gone. How on earth could I have lost such money? I questioned my self bitterly. It was right there in my back pocket..who would have taken it? I asked and searched around but to know avail. I was so pained..I actually wept. In my state of distress, I figured I had paid more attention to my ambitious thoughts and less to my environment. Hence, my chances of putting my plans to play were ruined.

This is similar to what happens sometimes as a result of being too ambitious. A couple of times, we get so caught up in getting ahead, that we forget ourselves in the scramble or we get so engrossed in reaching our goals that we forget the way to get there. We get ourselves under too much pressure and it reflects on our character. Being ambitious is great but being over ambitious could literally ruin your chances of achieving your dreams. On one hand, it could be a driving force, on the other hand, it could be a dragging force. Most of us aren't short on ambition. We all want more wealth, more success, more accolades, more everything but the reality is that; there's only so many hours in a day and more importantly, so many hours our bodies will allow us to work. If we can't control our ambitious drive, it will in turn, end up controling us negatively. Don't count your chickens before they are hatched and don't build your castles in the air. Be reasonably ambitious.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Monday, 4 January 2016

Here we are again folks, the start of a new year. The time when we're usually bursting with motivation and promises to not repeat the mistakes of the past.

I know I've learnt a lot in the last 12 months and I have spent some time, thinking about what my priorities will be this year. There are loads of possibilities this year, and the fact that we made it into the new year, means we've been given another chance,.an opportunity to set our priorities right and focus on what is more important - purpose and fulfilment.

A few days before the new year, 3 days precisely, I lost a friend who was so dear to me, in a way I never expected. I was shocked, cold and traumatized from the incident..different thoughts running through my mind. How could that have happend,..so suddenly and just a few days to the new year. It was a pain so severe and unbearable. One I'd never felt before. In that moment, I realised how short life is. We are probably all guilty at times of viewing time as an obstacle we need to hunker down and get through. E.g, "isn't it the end of the workday yet? I just need to get through this year..." Death reminds us that life is precious, temporary and not to be taken for granted. A daily practice of gratitude such as a simple prayer or a meditation, is a great way to stay positive and aligned with the awearness of the awesome gift of life. Also, appreciating the people we love isn't something we should leave for very special days like birthdays and good days. Appreciate your loved ones everyday cause the next second isn't guaranteed.

For me, this year is going to be my year of gratitude and appreciation to self, and everyone around me. Any other thing can come second but I urge you all to set your priorities right this year and let love rule your world.

Wishing you all a very happy and fulfilled new year.

THE YOUNG AND CONFUSED BLOG REVIEW!!!!

Thursday, 31 December 2015

Hey guys,

With respect to the 15 for 15 challenge, I would be reviewing the young and confused blog by Duru Adolphus Jnr.

First off, I'd like to say that for everyone who embarked on the challenge, you deserve a big kudos and congratulations if you made it till the end.

Duru set out to talk about his family as the theme for the challenge and he was able to deliver as promised. Bellow are the links to his posts for the year.

January post

February post

March post

April post

May post

June post

July post

August post

September post

October post

November post

December post

Duru's persistence and consistency with his posts were quite impressive and a little treating to be honnest lol. He was always on time with his posts like he had them handy even before we all signed up for the challenge and that was pretty treatning. On average, he had his posts up by the 15th of the month (satistcally proven) by the way lol. At this time on average, I hadnt even found my next interviewee. There was even a time he had a post up on the 4th (June post) and I was like huh!..this guy's deep mehn lol..I hadn't even thought of scheduling my next interview session and he was already up with his. I really found that very dedicating of him. It showed that he was not only dedicated to the challenge, but was always looking forward to his next monthly post. Most of his posts made a lot of sense and I think some of my favorites were sorry and blood. I liked that they were mostly hilarious stories but had meaningful lessons at the end. Family would always always be there when no oneelse is.

Based on the fact that Duru participated in the previous 14 for 14 challenge and won, one would have thought that he got the crown, hence he's satisfied and good to go..but no, he decided to embark on another one which shows that its never really about the crown or winning for him..its about the experiences, fun and lessons that come with the challenge. He was the reason I took on the challenge and to him, I return my thanks.

AND ITS A WRAP! CONCLUSIVE POST 15 for 15 CHALLENGE!!

Tuesday, 29 December 2015

Hello from the other side guys.

I was wondering if you'all have enjoyed the holidays so far?..Ive been here, doing what I do best (eating and sleeping) lol. Its been a very relaxing one for me so far.

I'm particularly glad that the year has finally come to an end, and there's just so much to be thankful for. I'm even more glad that I have finally come to an end with the 15 for 15 challenge. I tell you my brothers and sisters..it was indeed a challenge..I never thought that I'd be putting up a final post, not to talk of a concluding post as there were times when I had nothing at hand or in my draft on the due date. These were very discouraging times for me with regards to the challenge. I remember calling one of my favourite bloggers Duru, contemplating backing out due to the fact that my interviewee for that month decided to back out last minute. I still remember his words to me that day and that encouraged me to find the next alternative option as opossed to giving up.

Being that the theme I chose, was to conduct interviews, my success with the challenge pretty much depended not only on me as the interviewer, but also the interviwee. That on its own was a major challenge. There were times I had no one to interview, times I was turned down..but I was on a mission to stepping out of my comfort zone this year and the challenge pretty much helped me achieve that by prompting me to reach out to people of different types and caliber, learn different things about different aspects of life and also, introduce vlogging to my blog which I am really happy about.

Overall, I am really glad I took on the challenge. Its been fun meeting and interacting with very interesting personalities. I think it's something Id want to keep up with just for the fun of it.

COBALT × CHROME

Saturday, 26 December 2015

Hey guys,

I hope you had a cheery merry Christmas?
I spent mine with family, cooking, eating and sharing old memories. It was really nice to know that we still had good memories about childhood and Christmas. It was also a time of reflection for me, seeing how we've shared everything, from food to clothes to laughter to joy to pain and to sorrow over the years,...the sacrifices we've made for eachother and the hope we've constantly given as daily gifts. It reminds me of the love of God and the sacrifice he made so that we can be united with him. Jesus demonstrated the true act of love by his birth, death and resurection and He is the reason for the season. So I hope we continue in the spirit of love cos truely, that's all that really matters.

So again, I decided to put up another outfit post, pairing my chrome plated neck peice, given to me by my friend Ify umeh, also as a birthday gift, with my cobalt blue dress. This was right after I had stumbled upon a note from my medical materials class, stating the properties of a cobalt chrome alloy. So yeah, you can say that was the inspiration behind the tittle of the post lol.

I thought it'll be a nice combination so I decided to pair them both.

This one's for you.

What do you guys think? Also, I recently completed my 15 for 15 challenge for the year *whoop! whoop!*. The last post was published yesterday and it was a vlog titled Nigerian vs American Christmas tag. If you haven't watched it yet, you can check it out here.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.
