THE YOUNG AND CONFUSED BLOG REVIEW!!!!

Thursday 31 December 2015

Hey guys,

With respect to the 15 for 15 challenge, I would be reviewing the young and confused blog by Duru Adolphus Jnr.

First off, I'd like to say that for everyone who embarked on the challenge, you deserve a big kudos and congratulations if you made it till the end.

Duru set out to talk about his family as the theme for the challenge and he was able to deliver as promised. Bellow are the links to his posts for the year.

Duru's persistence and consistency with his posts were quite impressive and a little treating to be honnest lol. He was always on time with his posts like he had them handy even before we all signed up for the challenge and that was pretty treatning. On average, he had his posts up by the 15th of the month (satistcally proven) by the way lol. At this time on average, I hadnt even found my next interviewee. There was even a time he had a post up on the 4th (June post) and I was like huh!..this guy's deep mehn lol..I hadn't even thought of scheduling my next interview session and he was already up with his. I really found that very dedicating of him. It showed that he was not only dedicated to the challenge, but was always looking forward to his next monthly post. Most of his posts made a lot of sense and I think some of my favorites were sorry and blood. I liked that they were mostly hilarious stories but had meaningful lessons at the end. Family would always always be there when no oneelse is.

Based on the fact that Duru participated in the previous 14 for 14 challenge and won, one would have thought that he got the crown, hence he's satisfied and good to go..but no, he decided to embark on another one which shows that its never really about the crown or winning for him..its about the experiences, fun and lessons that come with the challenge. He was the reason I took on the challenge and to him, I return my thanks.

AND ITS A WRAP! CONCLUSIVE POST 15 for 15 CHALLENGE!!

Tuesday 29 December 2015

Hello from the other side guys.

I was wondering if you'all have enjoyed the holidays so far?..Ive been here, doing what I do best (eating and sleeping) lol. Its been a very relaxing one for me so far.

I'm particularly glad that the year has finally come to an end, and there's just so much to be thankful for. I'm even more glad that I have finally come to an end with the 15 for 15 challenge. I tell you my brothers and sisters..it was indeed a challenge..I never thought that I'd be putting up a final post, not to talk of a concluding post as there were times when I had nothing at hand or in my draft on the due date. These were very discouraging times for me with regards to the challenge. I remember calling one of my favourite bloggers Duru, contemplating backing out due to the fact that my interviewee for that month decided to back out last minute. I still remember his words to me that day and that encouraged me to find the next alternative option as opossed to giving up.

Being that the theme I chose, was to conduct interviews, my success with the challenge pretty much depended not only on me as the interviewer, but also the interviwee. That on its own was a major challenge. There were times I had no one to interview, times I was turned down..but I was on a mission to stepping out of my comfort zone this year and the challenge pretty much helped me achieve that by prompting me to reach out to people of different types and caliber, learn different things about different aspects of life and also, introduce vlogging to my blog which I am really happy about.

Overall, I am really glad I took on the challenge. Its been fun meeting and interacting with very interesting personalities. I think it's something Id want to keep up with just for the fun of it.

If you missed out on any of the posts, you can check them out bellow.

COBALT × CHROME

Saturday 26 December 2015

Hey guys,

I hope you had a cheery merry Christmas?
I spent mine with family, cooking, eating and sharing old memories. It was really nice to know that we still had good memories about childhood and Christmas. It was also a time of reflection for me, seeing how we've shared everything, from food to clothes to laughter to joy to pain and to sorrow over the years,...the sacrifices we've made for eachother and the hope we've constantly given as daily gifts. It reminds me of the love of God and the sacrifice he made so that we can be united with him. Jesus demonstrated the true act of love by his birth, death and resurection and He is the reason for the season. So I hope we continue in the spirit of love cos truely, that's all that really matters.

So again, I decided to put up another outfit post, pairing my chrome plated neck peice, given to me by my friend Ify umeh, also as a birthday gift, with my cobalt blue dress. This was right after I had stumbled upon a note from my medical materials class, stating the properties of a cobalt chrome alloy. So yeah, you can say that was the inspiration behind the tittle of the post lol.

I thought it'll be a nice combination so I decided to pair them both.

This one's for you.

What do you guys think? Also, I recently completed my 15 for 15 challenge for the year *whoop! whoop!*. The last post was published yesterday and it was a vlog titled Nigerian vs American Christmas tag. If you haven't watched it yet, you can check it out here.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.

15 FOR 15 CHALLENGE (final post): NIGERIAN VS AMERICAN CHRISTMAS TAG!!

Friday 25 December 2015

Merry Christmas people.

Can't believe it's almost the end of the year. It's been quite an eventful one I must say. How are you spending your Christmas? or rather, what did you get up to?

Being that it's the last month of the year, I decided to do a little Christmas post which also serves as my last interview post with regards to the 15 for 15 challenge. I am really glad to have made it to the end. I honestly thought I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago but I'm thankful to God for staying put and never giving up.

So yeah!..here's my third vlog with the amazing Obi..I hope you enjoy it.

MY YELLOW SUNNY DAY!!!

Thursday 24 December 2015

Hey guys,

Long time no post yeah? That's because its been quite a busy week. The weekend was pretty much dedicated to Owambe and then following that, were endless errands and christmas shopping. I guess you all are ready for the christmas..its christmas eve and im not sure if its feeling like it yet.

Few days ago, I got gifted a nice pair of shoes and a little pretty skirt. This was a late birthday gift from my friend Annie but it was cool because it came in at the right time..the giving season.

It was a bright sunny day and so I decided to go with the weather, by pairing the skirt with a nice yellow top which I've had for a long while. This was how I looked.

            Kisses to you..my fellow readers.

I guess you can tell I struggled to find a tittle for this post..sometimes its just best to go with whatever comes to mind. I guess I can also call this an outfit post lol. How's the Christmas eve looking at your end? You all ready for tommorow? Please feel free to let me know what you think about my yellow sunny day look.

Happy Christmas Eve.

THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN TAILOR!!!!!

Saturday 12 December 2015

Hey guys,

What a year it has been for me!! *Whew*! work has been crazy..it's not easy to make money the clean way mehn!!..I'm glad I finally get to kick start my holiday with a large cup of smoothie and a nice pile of suya. Oh how I've craived this moment so bad *sigh*. I hope you all have got your holidays planned. If you haven't, Its never too late to start.

It seems like part of my holiday would be spent indulging in different wedding activities/preparations, as two of my friends would be getting married this month. Again, I am on the train. If you haven't read my lessons from being a brides maid, you can look it up here

Speaking of weddings, one thing that puts me off about weddings, is having to make dresses. I find that quite a struggle. Thanks to most Nigerian tailors.

A few days ago, I had a very annoying experience with a tailor that was recommended to me by a friend. I won't go into the details to save you the essay but in light of that, I was inspired to publish this little write up titled:-The Average Nigerian Tailor. I hope it explains it all.

The Average Nigerian Tailor

Ever promising and ready to deal..
Specially with you, and probably 10 others...

Very skilled and highly fashionable, understands your styles, but chooses his anyways.

Has no problem using a tape, but prefers the use of his very accurate magic fingers.

He's a professional, don't get him wrong.

Popularly known for his excellent ability to keep to time.

With him, you can be sure to pick  up after the D- day....
a draft perhaps, or possibly, the initial raw material.

He's extremely reliable, with him, you must have a plan B, a plan C or possibly, a plan D.

He's the ever chaotic man
The fickle devious man..

He's the Average Nigerian Tailor.

Beware!!!

THE BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT!!!!

Monday 7 December 2015

Hey guys,

I know its pretty late but happy new Month. Its the festive season and I am already feeling the Christmas whiff. I must say, it's been such an eventful year, filled with loads of lessons, opportunities, experiences, growth, failures and accomplishments. Atleast, I am glad I was able to achieve most of my goals for the year 2015 and I am so looking forward to the year 2016. I hope you all have started making your Christmas plans cos I have. With the way I am going though, it might be a struggle getting my posts for the month of december published, as I might just be carried away/distracted having fun or getting engrossed in different December ctivities lol.

Any hu, a few days ago, I stumbled upon a story I found very touching and meaningful while going through my mail, and in light of the christmas season, I thought it'll be nice to share it on here. I hope it touches you just as it has touched me, and teaches you that the greatest gift you can actually ever give anyone, is the gift of hope. Enjoy.

A little boy and his grandmother came to see Santa at The Mayfair Mall in Wisconsin. The child climbed up on santa’s lap, holding a picture of a little girl.
“Who is this?” – asked Santa, smiling. “Your friend? Your sister?”
“Yes, Santa.” – he replied.
“My sister, Sarah, who is very sick.” – he said sadly.
Santa glanced over at the grandmother who was waiting nearby and saw her dabbing her eyes with a tissue.
“She wanted to come with me to see you, oh, so very much, Santa!” – the child exclaimed.
“She misses you.” – he added softly.
Santa tried to be cheerful and encouraged a smile to the boy’s face, asking him what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas.
When they finished their visit, the grandmother came over to help the child off his lap, and started to say something to Santa, but halted.
“What is it?” – Santa asked warmly.
“Well, I know it’s really too much to ask you, Santa, but ..” – the old woman began, shooing her grandson over to one of Santa’s elves to collect the little gift which Santa gave all his young visitors.
“The girl in the photograph… my granddaughter well, you see … she has leukemia and isn’t expected to make it even through the holidays.” – she said through tear-filled eyes.
“Is there anyway, Santa, any possible way that you could come see Sarah? That’s all she’s asked for, for Christmas, is to see Santa.”
Santa blinked and swallowed hard and told the woman to leave information with his elves as to where Sarah was, and he would see what he could do. Santa thought of little else the rest of that afternoon. He knew what he had to do.
“What if it were MY child lying in that hospital bed, dying?” – he thought with a sinking heart, “This is the least I can do.”
When Santa finished visiting with all the boys and girls that evening, he retrieved from his helper the name of the hospital where Sarah was staying. He asked Rick, the assistant location manager how to get to Children’s Hospital.
“Why?” – Rick asked, with a puzzled look on his face.
Santa relayed to him the conversation with Sarah’s grandmother earlier that day.
“Common….I’ll take you there.” – Rick said softly. Rick drove them to the hospital and came inside with Santa. They found out which room Sarah was in. A pale Rick said he would wait out in the hall.
Santa quietly peeked into the room through the half-closed door and saw little Sarah on the bed.
The room was full of what appeared to be her family; there was the grandmother and the girl’s brother he had met earlier that day. A woman whom he guessed was Sarah’s mother stood by the bed, gently pushing Sarah’s thin hair off her forehead.
And another woman who he discovered later was Sarah’s aunt, sat in a chair near the bed with a weary, sad look on her face. They were talking quietly, and Santa could sense the warmth and closeness of the family, and their love and concern for Sarah.
Taking a deep breath, and forcing a smile on his face, Santa entered the room, bellowing a hearty, “Ho, ho, ho!”
“Santa!” – shrieked little Sarah weakly, as she tried to escape her bed to run to him.
Santa rushed to her side and gave her a warm hug. A child the tender age of his own son — 9 years old — gazed up at him with wonder and excitement.
Her skin was pale and her short tresses bore telltale bald patches from the effects of chemotherapy. But all he saw when he looked at her was a pair of huge, blue eyes. His heart melted, and he had to force himself to choke back tears.
Though his eyes were riveted upon Sarah’s face, he could hear the gasps and quiet sobbing of the women in the room.
As he and Sarah began talking, the family crept quietly to the bedside one by one, squeezing Santa’s shoulder or his hand gratefully, whispering “Thank you” as they gazed sincerely at him with shining eyes.
Santa and Sarah talked and talked, and she told him excitedly all the toys she wanted for Christmas, assuring him she’d been a very good girl that year.
As their time together dwindled, Santa felt led in his spirit to pray for Sarah, and asked for permission from the girl’s mother. She nodded in agreement and the entire family circled around Sarah’s bed, holding hands.
Santa looked intensely at Sarah and asked her if she believed in angels, “Oh, yes, Santa… I do!” – she exclaimed.
“Well, I’m going to ask that angels watch over you.” – he said.
Laying one hand on the child’s head, Santa closed his eyes and prayed. He asked that God touch little Sarah, and heal her body from this disease.
He asked that angels minister to her, watch and keep her. And when he finished praying, still with eyes closed, he started singing, softly, “Silent Night, Holy Night…. all is calm, all is bright…”
The family joined in, still holding hands, smiling at Sarah, and crying tears of hope, tears of joy for this moment, as Sarah beamed at them all.
When the song ended, Santa sat on the side of the bed again and held Sarah’s frail, small hands in his own.
“Now, Sarah,” – he said authoritatively, “you have a job to do, and that is to concentrate on getting well. I want you to have fun playing with your friends this summer, and I expect to see you at my house at Mayfair Mall this time next year!”
He knew it was risky proclaiming that to this little girl who had terminal cancer, but he ‘had’ to. He had to give her the greatest gift he could — not dolls or games or toys — but the gift of HOPE.
“Yes, Santa!” – Sarah exclaimed, her eyes bright. He leaned down and kissed her on the forehead and left the room.
Out in the hall, the minute Santa’s eyes met Rick’s, a look passed between them and they wept unashamed.
Sarah’s mother and grandmother slipped out of the room quickly and rushed to Santa’s side to thank him.
“My only child is the same age as Sarah.” – he explained quietly. “This is the least I could do.”
They nodded with understanding and hugged him.
One year later, Santa Mark was again back on the set in Milwaukee for his six-week, seasonal job which he so loves to do. Several weeks went by and then one day a child came up to sit on his lap.
“Hi, Santa! Remember me?!”
“Of course, I do.” – Santa proclaimed (as he always does), smiling down at her. After all, the secret to being a ‘good’ Santa is to always make each child feel as if they are the ‘only’ child in the world at that moment.
“You came to see me in the hospital last year!”
Santa’s jaw dropped. Tears immediately sprang in his eyes, and he grabbed this little miracle and held her to his chest.
“Sarah!” – he exclaimed. He scarcely recognized her, for her hair was long and silky and her cheeks were rosy — much different from the little girl he had visited just a year before.
He looked over and saw Sarah’s mother and grandmother in the sidelines smiling and waving and wiping their eyes.
That was the best Christmas ever for Santa Claus.
He had witnessed –and been blessed to be instrumental in bringing about — this miracle of hope. This precious little child was healed. Cancer-free. Alive and well. He silently looked up to Heaven and humbly whispered, “Thank you, Father. ‘Tis a very, Merry Christmas!”

15 FOR 15 CHALLENGE : THE SCORPIO IN ME BY DURU!!

Monday 30 November 2015

Hey guys,

So, the month has finally come to an end, and I am glad it was a blissful one for me. December seems to be more promising, and I am so looking forward to it.

With regards to my monthly challenge, (the 15 for 15 challenge), I decided to collaborate and conduct a mini birthday interview for a fellow blogger Duru, concerning his zodiac sign in relation to his personality.

You can visit his blog for more details, or better still, watch his video bellow.

Enjoy the rest of your week :)

20 THINGS TO LET GO OF BEFORE YOUR NEXT BIRTHDAY!!

Saturday 28 November 2015

Hey guys,

How was the week and how is the weekend going? I hope great!..

So the year is gradually coming to an end and I am pretty excited as my favorite month of the year approaches.

A few weeks ago, I shot and published my first Vlog, in collaboration with Duru concerning our zodiac sign, Scorpio. This was more or less a birthday interview for the 15 for 15 challenge (November), which I would be publishing soon.

In the mean time, I decided to share a list of things I need to give of before my next birthday, as I did a bit of reflection and thought its about time to grow up not just in age but in maturity. I hope you find the list useful.

THE HAND WRITING ON THE WALL!!!!!

Wednesday 25 November 2015

Hey guys,

How's the week been so far? I hope great? I was just going through some files in my drafts and then, stumbled upon a poem I had been meaning to share. I found it quite nice and heart felt, so I hope you find it the same. Here it goes.

The Hand Writing On The Wall

A weary mother returned from the store,
Lugging groceries through the kitchen door.
Awaiting her arrival was her 8 year old son,
Anxious to relate what his younger brother had done.

While I was out playing and Dad was on a call,
T.J. took his crayons and wrote on the wall
It's on the new paper you just hung in the den.
I told him you'd be mad at having to do it again.

She let out a moan and furrowed her brow,
Where is your little brother right now?
She emptied her arms and with a purposeful stride,
She marched to his closet where he had gone to hide.

She called his full name as she entered his room.
He trembled with fear--he knew that meant doom
For the next ten minutes, she ranted and raved
About the expensive wallpaper and how she had saved.

Lamenting all the work it would take to repair,
She condemned his actions and total lack of care.
The more she scolded, the madder she got,
Then stomped from his room, totally distraught

She headed for the den to confirm her fears.
When she saw the wall, her eyes flooded with tears.
The message she read pierced her soul with a dart.
It said, I love Mommy, surrounded by a heart.

Well, the wallpaper remained, just as she found it,
With an empty picture frame hung to surround it.
A reminder to her, and indeed to all,
Take time to read the handwriting on the wall.

30 HAPPINESS QUOTES TO CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK!!!

Tuesday 17 November 2015

People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
                         ―Abraham Lincoln

Few days ago was one of those days that just seemed like the universe was against me. I had gotten disappointed thrice at a go, taken a wrong step from trying to 'walk out' of the situation and then, eventually, ended up in a ditch of sadness and distress..

This happens quite a lot with most of us when we make plans and have certain expections which often times, go the opposite direction.

Just like most of us do, I had initially decided to find other reasons to make me happy, like calling a friend to talk about it, getting myself some icecream, seeing a movie and engaging in family discussions but I hadn't done the one most important thing, which was; making up my mind to be happy. Hence, I found myself falling into the ditch again, until I made up my mind to not be bothered at all.
Where am I going with this?

It usually isn't a situation that makes you happy or unhappy. It is how you think about it and your control over your thoughts that make you happy. The only person who can hurt or ruin your happiness in the long run, is you. No one can get you angry or make you unhappy without your permission.

In the light of this, I decided to share 30 thought-provoking quotes that will help you think on the brighter side.

  1. It only takes one person to make you happy and change your life:  YOU.
  2. Your life will improve only when you take small chances, and the first and most difficult chance you can take is to be honest with yourself.
  3. Stop focusing on how stressed you are and remember how blessed you are.  It could be so much worse.
  4. It is not what happens to you, but how you respond to what happens to you.  Count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles.
  5. Look for something positive about this moment.  Even if you have to look a little harder than usual, it still exists.
  6. When you smile about the life you live, you end up living a life worth smiling about.
  7. Remember, social comparison is the thief of happiness.  You could spend a lifetime worrying about what others have, but it wouldn’t get you anything.
  8. Happiness comes more easily when you feel good about yourself without feeling the need for anyone else’s approval.
  9. Be nice to people on your way up because you might meet them again on your way back down.
  10. Set an example. Treat everyone with kindness and respect, even those who are rude to you – not because they are nice, but because you are.
  11. Kindness is not to be mistaken for weakness, nor forgiveness for acceptance.  It’s about knowing resentment of any kind is not on the path to happiness.
  12. Give as much as you can, but don’t allow yourself to be used.  Listen to others closely, but don’t lose your own voice.
  13. Say what you need to say.  Speak your truth.  There is no greater sadness than holding on to the words you never had the courage to speak.
  14. You can’t change how people treat you or what they say about you.  All you can do is change how you react and who you choose to be around.
  15. Negative company will never give you a positive life.  Examine what you tolerate in the long-term.
  16. What you allow is what will continue.  It’s always better to spend more time alone than allow negative people and their opinions to derail you from your destiny.
  17. When other people treat you poorly, walk away, smile and keep being YOU.  Don’t ever let someone else’s bitterness change the person you are.
  18. Your value doesn’t decrease based on someone’s inability to see your worth.
  19. One of the most freeing things we learn in life is that we don’t have to like everyone, everyone doesn’t have to like us, and that’s OK.
  20. When someone says, “You’ve changed,” it’s not always a bad thing.  Sometimes it just means you stopped living your life their way.
  21. Never be ashamed of how you feel.  You have the right to feel any emotion that comes to you, and to follow a path that makes you happy.
  22. The unhappiest people in this world are the people who care the most about what everyone else thinks.
  23. You can’t base your idea of success and happiness on other people’s opinions and expectations.
  24. Happiness and success is all about spending your life in your own way.  Be yourself.  No one can ever tell you you’re doing it wrong.
  25. It’s always better to be at the bottom of the ladder you want to climb than the top of the one you don’t.
  26. Work to create a life that feels right to YOU, not one that looks right to everyone else.
  27. No amount of money will make you happy if you aren’t happy with yourself.
  28. Maybe the thing you’re scared of is exactly what you should do.  Sometimes life is about risking it all for a dream no one can see but you.
  29. You can’t always wait for the perfect moment.  Sometimes you must dare to do it because life is too short to regret and wonder what could have been.
  30. The most reliable way to predict the future is to create it.  Participate in life instead of just watching it pass you by.
I hope you enjoy the rest of the week.:)

Thursday 5 November 2015

Hey guys,

I hope you've had a splendid week so far? Mine has been a combination of stressful and fun. Especially because, it was my birthday a few days ago (3 days ago to be precise) and it was also on Tuesday, a busy work day. By the way, if you haven't seen/watched my first video/Vlog, which was more or less a birthday interview, you can watch it here already...lol.

A day before my birthday, I was overly gingered by my colleagues and friends to do something but there was no budget. Fortunately for me, a client of mine suggested a dinner, and decided to sponsor it.

I guess that should have been part of my wish list, as I silently wished that I could do something for my birthday but not from my pocket lol.

Speaking of wishes, who ever said wishes don't come true? Look what I got...a long red dress...

all thanks to my major ride or die Onyekachi Opara..whatch out for her blog coming up soon. I was really overwhelmed by the amount of love shown to me, the wishes made and the gifts given. What more can I say?...I'm grateful to have friends like mine who always come through for me. Though, the fun wasn't complete without my other friends..most especially, my Sister, lover and best friend, Susan Alali Abere. I love you soo very much it hurts. Thanks for being there always..more celebrations to come.

Okay enough of the cheesiness..moving on to other interesting things. So I got three cakes..
